Sanity Check - Can I use a brake to bend steel rule?

I have access to a decent box brake and an Ironworker. My patterns don't have any radius bends. Is there any reason I can't bend steel rule with the equipment I have or do I really need a steel rule bender?

    Additionals:

I have access to a laser, Shopbot, and scroll saw so the wooden portion isn't an issue.
I have found a source to have them done locally, and cheaply, but I want to go through the process once on something simple so I am not completely clueless when I start talking to the pro's.
I will be cutting EVA foam (craft foam) and possibly thin leather.

I would say it depends on the angle of bend, and type of rule. Manual steel rule benders just have a lot more options with angles and radiuses, and help ensure your bend is flush. If your bends aren't extreme, and you can bend them with your current shop supplies more power to you!
