    PlasmaCam Axis Issues

New Join here! If this has been answered elsewhere I apologize, but I have not been able to find a thread similar.

I have owned my PlasmaCam for three years with no issues. Today I encountered an axis problem, and it is the weekend so no help from HQ till Monday!

When I try to initialize the "torch hit material" dialog box appears, but no material has been hit.
When I push the carnage by hand (with the power off) the X-axis moves but is sticky. Y and Z axis have no movement sticking issues when pushed by hand.
When I took the "yellow" torch carrier off of the rail, and turn the power off the gears/belt rotate freely.
When I power up and I go to the software diagnostic section, and select to "hold motors" the motors torque up and hold as they are suppose to.
When I give a movement command the motors do not respond.

I am thinking it is an encoder issue? Any thoughts?

Thank you in advance for any help... Hopefully I can play it forward in the future!

    I found the answer.

There was slag buildup inside the nozzle. Once I cleaned it out the machine worked perfectly.

    Good call!

99% of the time whenever I have had an issue with a plasmacam, itis almost always something extremely simple like that.

plasmaMac: I am finding that to be the case, but I am a tinkerer so I don't mind going through the process of elimination! It's all part of the edumacation!
