Re: My 2nd 3 axis CNC Router build

    OK here are some details:

    - The outer extrusions of the base are 40x80mm heavy type aluminum. The extrusions inside the base are 40x80mm light type but same.
    - The front and rear walls of the base are 12mm thick 6061 aluminum.
    - Profiles on the Y are 40x120mm aluminum extrusion. One is placed vertical and other is horizontal.
    - I'll take apart my current router to use the electronics and linear stuff which are:
    - 4 x Nema23 motors (I'd like to replace them with servos in the future)
    - 15mm linear rail and blocks on X and Y axis
    - 12mm THK linear rail and blocks on the Z
    - I'll keep using my homemade control box (pic attached).

Just purchased M10 and M6 helical taps from the LHS. I also get a carbide M10 drill bit for machine. This one is much shorter and precise.

Nice renderings also. What program did you model it in?

Just a little update. One of the plates was slightly bent. Had to make some pitbull jaws (I think they call it so) to fix the plate to the machine. Ran a faceing operation.

Looking good. Dont stop posting, your efforts are appreciated.
How did you bore the large holes in the plates? Surface finish looks excellent..

Re: My 2nd 3 axis CNC Router build

The holes are 4, 5, 6 and 10mm diameter. I used drill bits for them. As for the surfaces, I haven't run a finish operation. Just roughing. I think the carbide 6mm 2 flutes end mill did a good job.

I'm glad you like it. Thanks.

    Azalin,

Beautiful Build! I'm using solidworks 2015 and have the same issue going on! No responses! Just so you know I really appreciate your time posting, it is really helping me in my design.
In your gantry it looks like you are using 10series 80/20 2x4 (or 15 series), how did you cut your extrusions? used a chop saw? or band saw?

What is the length across the gantry?

Re: My 2nd 3 axis CNC Router build

They have a nice machine in the shop that I purchased the extrusions. A machine with DRO. It allows them to cut the profiles very precise.

The profiles in the gantry are 10 series 40x120.

Total length of the gantry is 800mm. Length of the Y axis is 800 too.

    Thanks.

The next is to cut the step motor and BK12 mount.
