    Alibre Design Xpress no more?

    All,

Tried to download it, turns out 3D Systems bought Alibre, and Design Xpress is no longer free.
Know how I can get a copy? Alternatives?

Downloaded eMachineShops cad ditty, but Alibre would undoubtedly be a lot better.

    Thanks,

3DS/GeoMagic have now combined all three levels into a single high-end level - GeoMagic Design. Alibre Design Express hasn't existed (or at least been updated) for several years now, though 3DS is marketing low cost 3D CAD programs in their Cubify line which is derived from the lower level Alibre products. It's being marketed for their 3D printing products and runs around $200 or less depending on version.

MichaelHenry is correct; the low-end version of Geomagic Design (based on Alibre) is now called Cubify Design, and it's available from our site at ComputerSculpture.com ? Home Page for Discount Hardware & Software as well as from the Cubify site. We also sell the full-featured Geomagic Design program, which is the high-end version of what was Alibre Design.

If you don't have any objections to a bit of cloud stuff, look into Fusion 360 from Autodesk. It is free for hobbyists including CAM based on HSM Works.

Onshape is also cloud-based and has a free version. It's still in beta but is starting to look pretty good. It runs in a browser (surprisingly well) and is thus supported on Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms with incomplete support on IPhones and IPads now and Android support coming "soon".
