What are your thoughts one this kit??

    G'day,

I'm new to all of this stuff, And I'm building a plasma/router table.

It it will be 3 axis setup but with dual drive on the X. So I'm looking at a 4 axis kit to suit.

what are your thoughts on this type of kit? Good drivers? Good breakout? Good power supply?

    Forget anything 4-axis.
    Forget anything usb.
    Forget anything TBxxx.

Cheap, good drivers are the 2M542 series.
    Use 48 V DC.

    Hi hanermo,
thanks for the advice! But why do u say forget 4 axis? I am planning on running dual drive on the x which I believe counts as a 4th axis yeah?
As for the breakout board and drivers, I have bought a set of 2M542 drivers with parallel breakout like you suggested.
I've also got a set of 567oz-in NEMA24's on their way.
Hopefully everything matches up and works!! :-/

One other thing... I was going to gear down the motors to screws with belts and pulleys, but the screws and motors I'm looking both require a pulley with a 10mm bore... Which seem to be hard to find. Most look like 6.35, 8, or 12mm. Any ideas?.

    thanks!

I am not sure I understand Han's comment. If you are running dual steppers on the same axis you can slave them but that can lead to other issues. How big is your table going to be? How heavy is your gantry going to be? All these questions need to be answered before you choose the steppers. I have a 4' x 4' cnc, an old Warthog that I am rebuilding, it currently has 2 steppers on the same axis and they are slaved. I plan on changing that to a 4 axis setup. My machine has Nema 34's, per the calculations I have run I will need a 140 watt stepper, I am leaning towards a low inductance 600 oz stepper settup from Leadshine. As to volts higher is better to a point.....

    YMMV

Cheap crap from china. But at least it's not a TB6560.

If you fry a multi -axis driver, you must replace all drivers. Individual drivers can plug and play.

Usb used to be bad. Usually ok now.
