Hey guys, I have been watching a few videos of cnc converted G0704 machines and I have a couple questions regarding tool holders. I noticed a lot of people have moved to a different style of tool holder then the standard r8 taper. They look to be a straight shank? Is this because of the powered draw bar, or for ease of setting tool heights when you have converted to CNC? What is the actual name of this style of holder, ive seen it refereed to as a "TTS" style holder? I had assumed this meant Tormach Tooling System?

The reason I ask is because I am about to pull the trigger and order a G0704 with the intent to convert it to CNC right away. I would like to buy a few tool holders to get me started, but I would prefer to use this other style of holder rather then the R8 spindle collet style. I was having a hard time finding where I can order the holders from, or pricing on them. Where are most of you buying your holders from?

Yes, Tormach tooling system.

Can buy from Tormach. There are a number of sellers on eBay that do clones. I bought 10x ER25 tool holders for $200 delivered. Search "C3/4 er25"

You can get the ATC geometry if you message them.
