m998 tool change height bug?
I use HSMWorks, and the default Tormach post processor spits out an m998 (go to tool change height) for each tool change.
Which has worked out okay so far. I have no ATC, and the m998 seemed to put the spindle near the top whenever a tool change was required.
I was cutting a bracket out of 1/4" plate, all axis were referenced, first tool (a 1/2" jacobs chuck with a drill) was already in the spindle. m998 is called, and the spindle plunges down. I smacked the e-stop as the drill hit the workpiece; fortunately nothing damaged.
I know that I have used this chuck with a similar sized drill bit, with a workpiece in the vise, and have never had this problem before.
m998 is now sending the spindle nose to a height of 10.5" above the table, which looks to me (from reading the ATC manual) to be several inches below what the tool change position should be. Nothing in the new 1100 manual or the new ATC manual discusses how to change what is defined as the tool change height.
Anyone confirm what height about the table m998 sends their machine to? I swear it used to be almost at the upper limit switch.
I have an 1100 and am running 1.8.2.
