Bridgeport Series 1 Interact (TNC 145C) - spindle issue - HELP!

    Hi Guys,

First post here so go easy.

I've recently acquired a Bridgeport series 1 interact. Day 3 of tinkering about with it (after having to get the back up batteries working and entering machine parameters - thanks to this forum) I've got to the stage of writing programs. There seems to be a problem with the spindle though. The spindle only seems to work with the manual switch on the front of the machine? I'll write a program starting with the tool def and tool call and then the first line with the M code in to start the spindle and also end the program with an M code to stop the spindle but when running the program nothing happens apart from an LED flashing at the side of the numeric keypad display. If I then switch the spindle on manually, the program kicks in to action and starts running, then at the end of the program the machine tries to stop the spindle but can't until I turn the manual switch off on the front.

Am I missing something here, like having something set wrong or no oil or something, or does it sound like a fault? Also the spindle is quite noisy when I run it, but that might be normal (sounds like straight but gears in a gearbox).

Hope I'm making sense and someone can point me in the right direction.

    Alex.

check your parameters against the lists posted on this site

check that the switches are all in the correct orientation for what you want to do. IOW the switch must be off to one side for auto action

    Hi Gus,

Thanks I will check the parameters relevant to the spindle. The spindle rotation switch on the front of the head is 3-way. Left for forwards, right for reverse and central for what I think is for the CNC and also to switch it off manually.

Ah that helps. If that's the case - the spindle is turning all the time and control is not stopping it. When I put an M code in to stop it, it does try to to stop it but the spindle carries on going.
