    CLS files

***** I found my answer. APT post software to process this code. *****

Ok,I need some help from the UG/NX guru's here. I was sent CLS files for a project and not sure how to post them for machine code. Do I need UG/NX or can a post processing software like ICAM do the trick. I have typically used native post processors in UG/NX. I understand the format, but currently do not have a seat to try myself, so I was hoping someone here could weigh in to help me clarify this.

    Sample CLS file:

    SPINDL/ 2000, CLW
    INSERT/M70 HP00$$
    AUXFUN/8,NEXT
    AUXFUN/18,NEXT
    FEDRAT/100.0000
    GOTO/0.0463,-0.3670,7.8854,-0.036790,0.159267,0.986550 $$PT1
    GOTO/0.0621,-0.4354,7.4616,-0.036790,0.159267,0.986550 $$PT2
    PPRINT DEPTH 1- 9 A -BR BEGIN PASS 1- 4
    FEDRAT/4.8600
    GOTO/0.0638,-0.4430,7.4145,-0.036790,0.159267,0.986550 $$PT3

    Re: CLS files

You can post the CLS file using the "CLSF Manager " (Ctrl + Alt + C). It is a very older way of doing post processing and has been slowly worked away from.
When I'm posting a CLS file I first access the CLSF Manager while in Manufacturing....

    > Click on the button that says "Post Processing"
    >Select my Postprocessor Name = gpm.exe (found in NX root directory)
    >Select my MDF Name (This will be a file that you will need to create which will be machine specific.)

To create a MDF file you will need to navigate the to same folder where the gpm.exe file located ( C:/Siemens/NX6/MACH/auxiliary ) and execute the mdfg.exe file. This exe file will launch a MS Dos window filled with menus to help create the MDF file.

    Re: CLS files

The CLS file is an output format, but it is not used for postprocessing in NX. Up until 10-15 years ago it was used by the old GPM postprocessor, but it was replaced with NX/Post, which uses the internal tool path and operation parameters.

In NX 9, GPM was removed from the system, but if you could find an old (NX8.5 or older) NX system, you could postprocess with GPM.

The CLS is an apt-like format, so any system that reads an APT CL source file can postprocess it.
