I am looking for a way to "replace all" text with ascending numbers to help with some editing after posting. I am aware that gibbs has an option to number all of the lines built in, but I find that the way it outputs the numbering is entirely too cluttered. I don't want each line numbered, I only want the operations numbered. Unless I'm missing out on a way to only number operations in ascending number?

For example:

I am trying to find all lines that start with the letter "N" and replace them with N1, N2, N3... so on and so forth.
Currently I am using the "Replace All" option in notepad to simply replace comments with certain codes that I need for the machine I am running. It's sort of a posting issue work-around that I'm working with.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as this would cut A LOT of time out of my programming.

If you select "minimize sequencing" on the post dialog box, it should only put an N number on each tool change.

This depends on the post you are using, of course. But most posts I've seen do this.
Alternatively, you can have someone create / modify a post for you so it only outputs N numbers on each new operation. It wouldn't be difficult to do.

Alternatively, you can use Notepad++ (it's a free program) which allows regex search and replace.

I got our post editor to add N"x's" after each operation so now it's numbering properly, but I'm still looking for a free editor that allows me to search for specific strings and copy the entire line (without adding line numbers before them).
I am currently using a program called "Ultra Edit" but my license is about to expire. For example I am searching for all lines with G0G90 and I want to be able to copy the entire line after that. This is to help with a pre-piercing section of a program for laser cutting.
