Hi everyone.

I've been collected parts for a while. This is time to upload some pictures and the design of my concrete based CNC. It's a heavy CNC for poor man. 3 tons and less than $300 for the frame.
XYZ travel is 500x400x400 mm. The overal dimension is 1300x600x1900 mm. It weights less than 3 tons.

2504 NSK double nut ball screws, C1-C2 precision grade:





Here is the head of this project. I got it for $400. It's used and come with the original box.
3kw, 334Hz, 20000 RPM, 6*7xxx C P4 bearings inside.

This is, by far, the best milling machine build on the site.

I work on both at the same time and will update the progress soon. The spindle looks small in those pictures but It weights 40 kgs.

Sanity. I think you've misplaced it!

Are your casting it in one piece? It might be too late but I recommend you cast in two pieces. otherwise the column is going to be a pain to align properly

And throw some blocking at the bottom of the form, roughly where a couple of forklift forks would go!

This frame will be putted near the machine to carry the rough/heavy blocks for machining.

Also for the frame. I will cast the ready made Z axis (milling and grinding) to the YZ column at one time.
The Y axis will be aligned later by a thick layer of granite epoxy (about 75mm)

Here is the Z axis. I'm working like a turtle.

I cast the ZY in one piece as you can see only the Z axis is on the concrete. The Y axis will be aligned later with a "thin" layer of granite epoxy (about 7cm).

The concrete is dry now and ready to move up.


It took me half day to instal the linear rails.



After a day with friends help and the winch, the concrete is steady stand up and looks like a machine now

Ironically I am doing something similar. Ive got a thread running on mycncuk forum. Ill post something on here too. Nice build. Im also using large high quality components and will end up with a machine weight of around 2 tons.
