Need some help with my ez trak

HI can any one help me with a issue that just started with me ez trak

when goes to make a move or you jog it it jumps and shuts down the servos and says DAC overflow .

then when you move it by hand it is like it has a lot of backlash before the readout moves

Look to see if you have a bad sensor in the axis with the problem.

No, not a home or limit switch but somewhere in the encoder circuit. The DAC overflow means the BMDC has called for a move and it was not made. It is somewhere from the BMDC to the servo in the axis involved, If you have "slop", sounds like an encoder. You can swap servo motor cables (both of them on each servo) and see if the problem follows that axis.

Does it home ok and then have an intermittent problem?

I bought it with only one drive and it was missing a servo so I bought a new servo and put it in and seem to work OK for a day or two I ran some of the programs that where in the machine already and even did a quick BHC and worked OK and then after programming a full part it stopped moving correctly and would jump and shut down.
It does it in Y and X and the X has the new servo

If your problem is not exclusive to a single axis, then it is likely to be BMDC related. Clean the connectors and reseat the card. If that doesn't fix it, if you know someone close who has an ez trak, see if they will check out your board.

After you get the machine to fail out and give you the DAC error, go into the back cabinet and look to see which axis drive card has a red light on it. If both are lit up, remove CR1 (the ice cube relay) and look at the drive cards again to see if both lights are red still. Whichever drive card has a red light on it, that is the axis that is causing the error. If both stay lit red after removing CR1, like reabdet21 said, you might have a BMDC problem.
