Boat Anchors hahaha! Light Machines CNC Lathe & Mill

Need to stop bringing stuff home! But will be restoring these boat anchors. Has a Controller not sure if it requires an ISA card or just an LPT port.

Been there done that. Had the same combo as does almost everyone else. Time to buy some G540's or MX3660's. Rebranded Sherline's.

It will require an ISA card and some software that is rarely available (I havent ever seen it or anyone with it). You could probably reuse most of the guts of the black box. I reused the power supply and box and still use it to this day. Probably could figure out how to use the drivers now. Had no clue then. It would not be an advantage to use the original drivers or steppers. Late model electronics provide more torque, speed and options. More compact too.

Lots of cleaning but the mill is starting to look like a nice machine! USPS delivered 3 new 166oz steppers today.

Hooked the old ones up and they worked but i wanted to make sure I have some that will last and were not 20 years old.

Now to find a low cost Drivers and BOB?

On another post someone recommended SainSmart 2-in-1 3D Printer Controller Board 3D Printing, Arduino, Robotics | Sainsmart

Have not found any info on connecting it to Linux CNC.

Been Sitting in the Closet... For To Long.

Not sure if I want to finish so many projects in the burner! Not sure what it is even worth! Maybe just pack it away for another day?

Started the update to Modern 160oz in Steppers & Drives.

Hard to get motivated after getting a 12x36 cnc'd? I could understand that.
