I'm machining a feature into a solid block and I am using "z level rough" and "z level finish" the problem I am having is that the finishing tool does not finish the bottom of the feature.
1" endmill rough tool
1" ballnose finish tool

Should I add another feature or change my finishing strategy all together?
Either of those are options. It kindof depends on the outcome needed/wanted. I would say a 3rd feature for the bottom is probably easiest/best..... Sometimes trying to do an entire piece in one go takes a bit more.
A third equaldistance toolpath limited to just the bottom area may be a good compliment to the zlevel finish on those walls!
(if you don't have equal distant then a spiral or radial will work)
Upload a ,zip of a .bbcd file and we get into it further
Flat lands; or figure an even number of increments to equal bottom of feature.
thanks for the replies everyone, i just added a third feature to finish the bottom and all is good, sort of. now im having trouble with choppy tool paths, i have created a new thread to deal with this. thanks again.
