    spring loaded rack and pinion

    I was running a ridgid setup for awhile but i really didnt care for it. and every one says how great the spring loaded racks work . so here is the one im working on it has 2 springs and 20 series heavy duty thomson accuglide rail
    what do you guys think

    John,

    I like your design but have you thought about inverting the rack so no slag or other trash can rest there?

    My table is like yours and the rack collects grit, etc. My next one will have the rack teethpointing down not up.

    I like the spring design. Although I bought a ready to go table. My Dynatorch table uses small Bimba air cylinders to hold the gear on the rack, and yes My racks are facing down as to not have slag clog up the gears. I like that when the air is turned off you can slide the rack by hand on both the X and Y axis.
