    Need Power Supply Source Recommendation

Need advice on where to purchase a "good" switching PS. 48v 7-10A

Ive read many of the inexpensive PS, offered, have many problems.

What makes for a good PS ? and who can you trust offering a reliable built one ?

They all look the same on the outside, but I know there are differences inside, like filtering.

If you want a really good one, I've got one that was intended for medical use; it's very precise and it has all the filters, etc. you could desire. I don't think it's a switching type supply, though; those are cheaper and lighter than this one. I'd let it go for $200 plus shipping.

If you want a switch-mode power supply "Mean-Well" is very common and didn't seem to be terribly priced.

If you want a linear power supply (usually said to be better for motor drives)

I bought a server power supply on ebay, 48V at 14A for $24 including shipping. Here is an explanation of how I got it working:
    Astek AA22680 (HP 0950-4428)- pinout/start-up? - RC Groups
It works fine with my Gecko g540 and four motors, no extra caps, no problems from it being a switcher.

When I bought it there were a number of them for sale at various prices.

Looking at a Mean Well LRS35048 from Jameco. Granted its another chinese part, but Ill take chances with a US dealer.
Got burned too many times from ebay chinese basement dealers. And have grown tired of ebay antics.

Thanks for the Cnc4PC mention. Is the owner still active on forums ? I remember his name in the past.
For me, w/ little electronic experience, willing to pay more for US placed support and reassurance of service.

Is efficiency that important when comparing these inexpensive PS ?
    90% compared to 86%.

Also ripple and noise. Most are 240mVp-p. One is <200mVp-p.
