Hej,
i'm very new to the whole CNC-Maschine stuff, but i think about getting my own one.
One thing i'm wondering about is, can every spindle do tapping cycles? Or do i need a spacial spindle for that?
Thanks
Florian

Florian...
You will most likely need a spindle capable of lower rpm (sub 1000) that has an encoder similar to those found in many VMC's

Hi florian
i did an retrofit of an Bridgeport 412I and there the requirement was to be able to do tapping cycle (G33 etc ) so in our case we have an VFD which drives the motor left right and speed and we have an encoder at the spindle which "feedback" the position of the spindle.
It is an requirement for spindle orientation but needed for gear cutting as well
In linuxcnc it is easy
