Exclamation Confused with probe wiring / Mach3 setup G540

    Hi Forum,

I have successfully wired my home and limit switches to my G540 running Mach3 under windows... All good and happy here. However I have setup a probe and cannot seem to get it working, here is the scenario

Enabled Probe in Mach 3 - Active low
Probe connected to G540 via 4 and 12 (common)
Check continuity with multimeter for wiring up to the G540 board - works as expected in a NO configuration.
on Auto-set under mach 3 could not get the damn thing to work
Checked in diagnostics no inputs light up when probe is connected

So I opened the G540 box, set mach3 to auto set for probe on active low, then use a straight wire between G540 connecter 4 and connector 12 to simulate a probe eliminating any wiring issue outside the box. - Still no joy ........WTF

    any guides here?

this could be a silly question but easily overlooked. is it set to the Correct port? a simple test to see if the function works would be swap probe pin setting to a working limit switch and trigger it.

I have been looking - what port /pin is the correct - for limit switches the autoset worked fine, they are 10,11,12 pins, So probe will be 9 or 13 at a guess?

    You can't use pin 9.
Input 4 on the G540 is pin 13.

Checked on the G540 manual, connector 4 on the board is pin 13, so i have set this

it is set active low (NO) do i need to place a resistor or similar?

Ok solved it, thanks for all the replies,

May bad- the connector was intermittent faulty at the end of the probe, so i replaced and working fine, was going crazy there for a while
