What is the price of a laser system (fiber or CO2) capable of cutting up to 5mm steel.
Just the laser cutter and its power system, not the motion control system or anything else.

I just want to see if it is possible to build my own CNC laser cutting machine.

the price are quite different based on the laser source brand----
We have adopt the world-top one IPG and Chinese top one Raycus.

for cutting 5mm steel then co2 laser cutting not ok, fiber cutting is ok.

fiber Racuys 500w laser is ok

like our model LF1325 500w Rauys laser can cut very good.machine use cypcut control system ,Au3-tech cutting head. Taiwan rails guides ,and Japan servo motor, etc

I am in the process of building a laser machine based on a Raycus 30W fiber laser.

Yes its only 30W but it is sufficient to do what i need done.

Price wise... 30W unit can be had for under USD5000.-- I paid USD4800.-- but other brands are somewhat less costly.
100W unit typically USD10000.--

CO2 laser will not cut stainless without a special surface treatment paint.

Problem is deciphering user integration information, I am going through that now.

Anybody with interface experience..please chirp .
