Hey folks
I'm hoping to generate a list of settings used for the diode lasers to give newbies like myself a starting point for various materials and jobs.
If you have a setting for materials list and could share I would really like to thank you in advance.

Not sure if I can be of any help, but here goes.

Goal: Engrave (burn) 2 old pictures of parents into one framed piece
Material: Baltic Birch ply
Equipment: 2.8 watt laser diode, Arduino Uno, laser driver from JTech, Tiny V-Slot machine I custom built (8" x 11")
Software: grbl .9i, PicEngrave and PicSend
Settings: Varied so much I can't list them all, but final run was around low at 40, high at 210, out of a 0 - 255 range
Upshot: took about 40 tries. Biggest problem for me was balancing the color contrast between 2 pictures. 2nd was even though I used the same type of material for each run, it burned differently. 3rd this was this was the first time I have worked with any type of CNC
Conclusion: I got me a picture I felt good about sending my mother for xmas. Job accomplished, not going there again.
