Hello All,

I have just recently purchased and set up a Roland Picza Pix 30 3-D Scanner, I have several questions for anyone who would be kind enough to share info with me.

In the Dr Picza software, what is the difference between Fine, Draft, and Smart Scan?
Is this only for the direction of the probe as it relates to the object, or scan quality as well?

I have attached an image of the lower section of the scanning area, would someone please
explain this section to me?

Fine and Draft are different presets for scan resolution. The "Smart Scan" feature is a way that the scanner can determine the area to be scanned automatically. I usually set the scanning resolution by hand (I find .008" x .008" is a good compromise between fineness of capture and time that it takes). You can set the scanning area by turning off Smart Scan and using the "Scanning area" button, then pressing "Begin Area Test" which sends the needle down at the borders of the proposed scan, adjusting the box (shown in your picture) as needed to catch the parts wanted but no extra.
