Im shopping for a spindle to my new mill project.

Now as far as ridgidety i think im fine with a bt30 taper spindle, and the spindle motor itself is only rated at 2kW.
However if i buy the smaller 30 taper spindle will i have trouble finding tooling for it? It seems to me that bt40 is more common and its the smallest i have ever used when it comes to mills.

Wich would you have picked?

Not exactly your situation as it is in the USA, but it might be relevant.

When I bought my mill I had a choice of BT30 or R8. For various reasons I chose the BT30. I regret the decision.

When shopping for BT30 tooling I find that there is little difference in variety and availability of new BT30 and BT40. I'm not actually looking for BT40, it just shows up in most of my searches. But both are expensive as new items.

When looking for used tooling BT30 seems to be non-existent compared to BT40. Obviously both markets are minuscule compared to R8, but that was not one of the options you listed.

Tooling have a Look to rc - machines. Com or paulimot but it is True used iso40 is more Common ...
