i was literally about to pull the trigger on a FSL tonight but did a few last minute google searches and it seems like it's advised to avoid them. Looking for some alternatives.

I make glass blowing tools with 3/4 round oak handles. I'm looking to engrave my logo and company name onto the handles as the primary use of the machine but also like the idea of having a 3d printer for various etsy style projects (cutting leather masks, engraving cutting boards, etching glass etc).

here were my thoughts on the FSL.

Pros:

Able to print anything. I'm a graphic designer though so converting file types probably isn't any issue for me.
Affordable - priced at $3500 (+$250 for the 45w laser and perhaps an extra lens and perhaps the rotary attachment)
USB
Seemed to have good american based support (though online reports seems to make it seem incorrect)
removable 'floor' so it could etch larger items than can fit in the machine

Cons:

poor customer service reviews
smallish (12" as the smallest edge is a tad smaller than i'd like)

would love to hear some other options in the same approximate price range.

you can search "Full Spectrum laser" on this forum, I think you can find some similar threads.
before you buy the machine, you can send your glass to them, and ask them make samples for your reference.

In my private opinion FSL is the worst junk. This is bad cheap copy of chinese junks.

I was offered a full spectrum laser for the cost of shipping from a person that had problems with it. He said they would not support it and they wanted money for warranty parts that did not work from the day it arrived. then they quit taking his phone calls. He ended up parting it out to recoup some of his money.

I like my thunder laser you are going Chinese. If you want a USA laser I like Trotec. Whatever you buy, avoid sub $5000 lasers, they are guaranteed junk. A decent laser will cost you $5000+ delivered to your door. On Chinese imports that breaks down to $3500+ laser plus $1500+ in duties and shipping. US Lasers start at about $15k.

I bought my LG 500 for less than $3,000 and picked it up from Automation Technologies. If I would have had them ship it It would have been $285 shipping. The reason I picked mine up was to get some training and make sure it would do what I wanted.

That's great for you but when I look at their site that laser doesn't even include a basic water chiller. That's a great price you got! How do you like it?

I like the laser and added a cooler for about $500 I use it mostly to cut acrylic for a point to point display. I did a couple of engraving jobs also that came out great. I thought about a Trotec but it was way out of my price range for what I do and wouldn't save me any time.

Trotec is NOT USA laser.

LOL its domestic for all purposes, yes assembled in Austria support and warehouse in USA. When people talk about domestic lasers Trotec epilog and universal are what they ate talking about

Thunder laser, have two run them hard been perfect. I ordered a mini60, had it to my door in two weeks, 1 hr to setup.

Great great machines for low costs.

Also, fsl sucks. I stopped at there store in Vegas, crap machines.
