Bump...January is running out, along with my lease where the machine sits, so I'm getting a little more eager to make a deal to move this thing, so I don't have to arrange to move and store it somewhere.

I might even entertain delivery within a 500 mile radius or so.

I'd be willing to look at deals with none/some/most/all of the accessories, if you're interested, shoot me a PM or email to steve at x35design dot com

    Thanks everyone.

Sounds like a fair price. Just for disclosure, could you do a backlash test on it.

No just a report on the backlash in all the axis. Put a dial indicator on the spindle, tip against a vise fixed jaw or piece of metal clamped in the vise, and see how many .0001s it takes before you see movement on the dial, jogging the axis one direction then the other, should be around .0005 for each axis.

Re: Series 3 PCNC1100 For Sale North Texas w/ accessories

Found some interesting things when I checked the backlash.

    Z was .0006 - good
    X was .0006 - also good
    Y was .0014 - not so good.

So, I consulted the Tormach manual.

I completely loosened the gib on the X and found the backlash just within the nut/bearing at .0003 - just as it should be. I then performed the tightening of the gibs according to the lost motion method in the manual and now it's back at .0006

I loosened the gib on the Y and was still getting about .001, so something isn't right... I checked the stepper bolts, they were OK. Then I checked the nut block to the saddle and found the bolts to be just snug, not tight, so I tightened them. The bolts holding the nut to the saddle were mostly tight, so I re tightened them also. I then rechecked and got .0003. I then tightened the gib until I was at .0006

Z I did not do any adjusting

Searching this subforum, I see I'm not the only person who had to retighten the nut/housing to make things back to spec.

I recall that I had checked the backlash about a year ago when I moved the machine to its current location and it was within spec. back then, so those bolts loosened up a little over a year's time.

    TLDR backlash report:
    X: .0006
    Y: .0006
    Z: .0006

According to the manual, it should be <.001 for X & Y, and < .0015 for Z, so I am well within the spec.

Your mill is in great shape! One advantage your stand has is you can get to the bolts on the Y axis ball nut yoke. Not so on the Tormach stand.
