    Armature Removal on Kress 800

    Hi Guys.

Im having a bit of trouble as title says removing the Armature from a kress 800 spindle , as i have ordered a replacement one. here is the link Motor Armature for Kress Milling and Grinding Spindle Motors 800 FME. to the part. i have stripped spindle down but unsure how to remove the rest of the housing. on the link page down the bottom shows Exploded-View Kress 800-FME so i am trying to remove part 13 away from 10. 5. & 4 etc etc if that makes sense. is there a trick to this as i do not want to force something to much.
Thanks in advance for any help on this.
    Cheers

Iwaskevin thanks for reply, I thought that too but it seemed very tight if it is threaded, hopefully find someone who has done the change , I have asked in the actual order form for the new one, but weather I get a reply don't know.
    Cheers

Your guess is as good as anyone else. It looks like its pressed on from the pdf Iwaskevin posted, but you'll know for sure once you receive new Armature.

    Good luck

Re: Armature Removal on Kress 800

Ok parts arrived, looks like it is just a case of pushing the armature. But wondering how much force is going to be needed to remove old & replace. Trying to think if I have to build some kind of device , like what is seen in the pictures. Rather than getting a hammer (the persuader.) too it.
    Anyone have any thoughts.

    they might have hydraulic press...

sometime these stuff assembled as shafts are cooled down , even in simple freezer and housing heated up over 100 deg Celsius..

    then you simply can assemble..

    so it locked together much..
a simple press anyway could help... tough you can do it hammer way too..

    ================================================== ================================

on other side.... im not sure if it worth to work with.. it will remain a brushed motor, keeping busy you with maintenance..

also wheres rotor connecting to the toolholder, you might can not assembly perfectly..

    Armature Removal on Kress 800

So tried the hammer approach , no luck , it seems like it is on there very tight indeed. I have had this spindle for bout 4 years, so even if you just wanted to change the bearings doesn't seem very user friendly . It seems if you don't have access too hydraulic press , you have to buy a whole new unit.

Re: Armature Removal on Kress 800

I had a Kress 950 that performed well for 4 years until it failed. First failure was the adjustable speed control, so I just wired it direct for full speed. Then after a period the top bearing ended up spinning in the plastic structure, possibly due to the bearing freezing or always running at high speed. It came with the CNC, but company went out of business, so not being the original purchaser of the Kress all warranty was lost. Fast forward to 2016 and there are now spindles with vfd/pwm for much less than the US price of a Kress.

Back to your question, mine fell apart during disassemble, but be careful not to crack the plastic housing parts.

Thanks for replies, I've ended up just ordering a whole new spindle, I made a holder like in the pictures & used a hammer to belt down, but didn't even budge. Had no reply from kress themselves regarding this either.
