Hello i need help with some info.
I have a Sigma Zenith 3p milling machine with 4th axis, chip conveyer, internal cooling, and 40 tool changer.
The machine is build in 1996 so already 20 years old.
The controller is a bit choking on 3d programs.
So this is the down side of the machine.
But it has only 2700 hours on the counter, so it is almost like new.
Last week i have run a ballbar test with factory results.
So i want to keep it for my self to make some nice products beside the other things i do.
For my living i sell and repair cnc machines.
I'm familiar with heidenhain electronics and programming.
Also know the programming structure of fanuc, but not so the electronics.
The sigma zenith i have is build in 1996 but i have found also one build in 2005 on the internet.
There are a slightly few changes on the machine for what i can see.
The only difference i see it has a 18i controller instead of the 18m i have.
The control panel for the axis and other options are identically.
Also machine frame, doors and tool changer.
Would it be possible to change the control for a newer one?
Mine has also digital drives.
If i can arrange the parameters from a 2005 machine.
And a 18i controller would that be possible.
Without changing the servo drives and motors?

I would like to hear from you guys.
Kind regards Branko from Holland
