Hi Everyone-

I'm getting a 2001 MG205 up and running. Very close to being ready to start cutting, but the DNC connection is spotty. By that I mean that about 15% of the time when I push the connect or job start button, it connects without a problem. The remaining 85% it says "Host Not Found!" or something to that effect.

Jobserver Log says this when there's an error:

[03February2016 12:33:38] ETCComX.ocx 3.9.12.2

Timeout occured while trying to get the new channel number

Sounds like you are trying to connect through ethernet, if so are you making your connection through a ethernet switch? Or are you trying to connect your CNC direct to the PC.

Yes, using ethernet. Through a switch. I've assigned a static IP to the machine.

if you use the same port on the computer you are connecting to the cmc router with to plug into the internet, do you get the same connection problem or does the connection stay stable.

Also is the switch or a router?

Reason:
Switches are passive and will not try to assign IP addresses
Routers will preform actively and will try to assign IP addresses

I don't quite follow question number 1 yet, could you clarify which cables you want me to switch?

Current setup is:
-computer has ethernet cable going to the switch
-MG205 has ethernet cable going to the switch
-the switch is plugged into a router for internet access

The IP addresses are staying constant from what I can tell.

One other bit of info I should have mentioned in the first post: the first attempt to connect to DNC always works fine when I reboot the machine. It's the subsequent attempts that are intermittent.

One of these pieces is in a DHCP mode, your IP address is rolling when you reboot.

What is your IP address and subnet mask for the machine and the PC

How did you go about setting the IP addresses? i need to do the same on my old MG i'm trying to hook up an multicam's tech support is beyond slooooooow.
