    Wiring up "tool setting Gauge"

look for a little advise on wiring.

I purchased a "Tool setting Gauge" from Ebay that needs 5~24V DC and a "working current" of <20MA.

I was planning to hook it up to the 12V supply that is in my electronics box. It'a a 12V, 5A, 60W switching power supply.

To my limited understanding, the device connecting to the PSU determines the Amp draw right? Or do I have to put something inline to protect from to many amps.

I know is probably a dumb question, but I don't want to waste the money spent on the tool setter. I've wasted enough time and $$$ on my conversion project as it is!

    Thanks,
    Andrew

The device will decide what current it draws. PSU just has to have that amount of amps or more available. PSU determines the voltage.

    Thank you for the response.

Like i said, probably a dumb and obvious question. But it's good to get confirmation all the same.

    Thanks again,

    Andrew,

I emailed that same seller, regarding whether or not the gauge is coolant proof and if it can be left on the table during ops. Do you think it's robust and sealed well enough for that, or no?

I'm not really sure yet. Mine is still on it's way. The tracking shows that I should have it in hand on Monday.

I did do some digging on the web and found the manufactures site, I think?

Not much more info there, but it does show a seal around the battery cover plate.

Given that it's wireless, I was just going to take it in and out as needed.
