    Velocity/Acceleration question

    Hi -

What does velocity & acceleration have to do with how far a motor travels?

Right now I can enter in
    f50 g1 x10

and the mill will draw a line of 10mm's like supposed to.

But if I do it really fast then it justs squelches and makes noises and not go as far.

    If I do
    g0 x10

then it squelches and does not go as far. Am I missing something? Any help would be appreciated.

It sounds like in inertia miss-match, most of the stress placed on positioning systems is due to inertia, during accel/decel.
The torque required at both stand-still and at speed is usually minimal, even with side forces.
There are recommended motor to load inertia ratings when sizing servo /stepper motors.

I think I got right now. But it is really by accident. I still don't fully understand how you come up with everything.

The good thing is that it is now working correctly. Or at least I hope. This forum ROCKS!@ Thanks for everyone's help.
