What is the best type of aluminum for CNC machining?

What is the best type of aluminum for CNC machining?
In North America the standard economical / strength type is 6061, while in Europe it's 6082.
How are they compared to 6060?

My friend purchased 6060 for a project, but I would have preferred 6061/6082 because 6060 is 2/3 the strength.
He said he tried cutting 6060 and he thought it was better with his CNC machine.
But I read on a few threads here recommending 6061 over 6060.

I also read that anodizing with 6060 is better, but I don't mind so much the results I'm getting for anodizing 6082.

Depends on what you are making. Lubrication is the key to getting it to cut without welding chips to the bit. Softer materials seem to weld chips and do not machine well. Too slow a feed/speed rate will create the welding problems as well. Get a good feed/speed calculator. Guessing is expensive both in tooling and material.
