    How to chamfer in SprutCAM7

    Hi,

Been trying to figure out how to properly chamfer the "boxes" in a door I'm making.
How would you go about in SprutCAM7 to chamfer the outer perimeter of the small
    "squares".

Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet <- screenshot of the piece.

Looked at a couple of tutorials on youtube but nothing that explained what I'm looking for.
Perhaps I need to run it as 5D conturing or something? got a 5 axis machine..

Hopefully someone will understand what I'm looking for, and I'm praying to god someone
could help me out on how to go about this problem..

    thanks in regards!

I use 2D contour to chamfer parts, I use end for the top selection and height for the lower one in the settings of the Tool selection.

I then select "curve" in the settings tab, just make sure it is tracking on the center of the curve, I check this in simulation, also how deep the cutter is cutting.

I use the bottom level in parameters to set the tool depth, and in the "stock" box I use a negative number.

An example would be .112 in the bottom level and -.110 in the stock box for a .250 chamfer mill in the parameters selection, this takes a slight chamfer on the part.

You can adjust the depth by manipulating those two numbers.

This can be figured out mathematically but I just use simulation to see where the cutter is in relation to the work.

I dont know if this method is proper, but thats the way I do it.
I will be glad to answer any questions, and I hope this is some help to you.

Prayer is a good thing when dealing with Sprut!!

    Thanks for your answer!

not a 100% sure of what tool I'm supposed to use, wasn't sure what end
I were supposed to start at, if I should get a tool after I figure this whole
process out, or just get a random tool, and hope it would work for what
    I'm trying to do.

is that possible on a 3D model to 2D?
    I'm pretty new to SprutCAM..

    Best regards,

You can use 2D contour on a 3D model.
Select the edges as job assignment.

I use a chamfer tool or a 45 degree engraving tool.

I have .250 2 and 4 flute chamfer tools, also a .125 45 degree engreaving tool that I use also. Also lots of trial and error with the simulation tab ha! Sprut 7 does a lot but was a bit hard to learn for me.

Here is a file that uses a chamfer in it, a one off tool for a friend, maybe load it into sprut 7 and check out the settings, maybe it will help you out.......

I hope it works for you, it will open here, it is a .zip file

Hi, thanks for all the responses!

Unfortinately @Popspipes , I were unable to open the file you provided are you sure you're working with SprutCAM 7?

"There are errors during the project opening process: The project version is not supported.
    There are loading errors.
Do you want to break the project opening process."

    Is what I get..

I've got a chamfer tool but its huge, so I need to get a smaller one I guess otherwise it would go
    into the material..
but yea, still scratching my head about this abit, but will have to keep trying to figure it out in sprutcam I guess

    Thanks again!

    Best regards, Linus

It opens fine here in sprut 7, I just tried it again.

It is a .zip file and has to be opened/unzipped first, then the resultant file will open in Sprut 7, I have the latest version 64105.
I use windows 7 and I download .zip files, then select open after it downloads, it will unzip the file and bring up a window with the unzipped file, and it will open from there with sprut.
