Hello
we have since 2 month a 50x30cm 50w laser chinese machine.
It was working very nicely... for 2 months in our fablab in marseille.

But last week when we were cutting some plywood, the laser stopped to cut . (no problem with motor)
We suspected the laser tube was broken and we bought a new lasertube : but it didnt work... (but maybe the new lasertube have a problem ..? badluck..)

We tried to plug a fluorescent tube instead of laser to test the power of laser... and the neon tube is powered and light on.

So what do you think ?? :
we suspect :

> the two laser co2 tube we have are broken ... badluck
> the power is not generating enough power ? (but work enough to light on a neon...)
something else ?

It will most likely be either the lasers high voltage power supply (most likely) or a tube problem (less likely having tried 2 tubes).
If your power supply has a test button - try flashing the tube with that.Or put an ammeter on the low voltage side of the tube and see if you nare getting any output- should typically be 18-25milliamps range.

Good suggestion, as that is likely the cause, though I also once had a cheap estop melt and got the same issue so do a quick check of things obvious like that. I switched my power supply (from another working machine) before I realized the real issue.

Hi it was the powersupply of the laser tube.
We order a new one and it works now...

The question is now, why did it break so fast (just one month of use) ... we have stable electricty, and ground...

weird...
