backup program of T1 and M1 to PC

    Hello everybody,

In our workshop we have 2 old machines. One has a mazatrol-t1 controller and the other has a mazatrol-m1 controller. We want to save the programs we made onto a PC or laptop.

There is a RS232 port on the machine. The standard wiring of a standard communication cable does not seem to work.

Do we need to change some parameters? Do we need a special connection cable? Do we need a special program?

We have a home-made communication program that works for M-plus and T-plus and Fanuc.

As it are older machines we want to minimise the cost.

Thank you in advance for a reply.

The RS-232 port you speak of on the control is really not what it appears to be. On the M-1 & T-1 controls Mazak only allowed communication in it's special format. You have to have a Mazak microdisk or offline software such as MazaCam or Griffo Bros.. The T-2 & M-2 (and newer) offered options to do EIA and these have two ports, i.e. CMT and RS232. Good luck with this.

Do you sell your homemade software which you use for T-Plus.

I am trying to send files to a T-Plus control with no luck.

    Mazak T1/M1

You will need to connect to the machine CMT port / RS232 port. You will also need the Mazatrol protocol to do this.

Cabling can be tricky but you can try a null modem cable to start.

You will want to setup the software, like Predator DNC, to use the Mazatrol link to save the program out and then turn around and send the same program back in.

    This will confirm communications.

Newer Mazak like T/M plus models, M/T32s all work via EIA and any software can communicate.

If you want edit the programs, Giffo Brothers is your best option.
They too can communicate but software is min $1500 or more.

    Predator is $700.00
