Hello,

Have been looking for a 10x36 to 12x40 lathe locally for some time for prototype work. Anyone have anything bad or good to say about the g4003g? I checked a local second hand one out I'm picking up for $1800, comes with a mister, and a 3 and 4 jaw chuck. Was lightly used to thread gun barrel ends. Looks to be in great shape overall. I'd like a dro on it, that's the only thing I would be wishing to add in thing he near future. Anyone else happy with theirs?

I am *very* happy with my G4003G. It strikes a nice balance between low cost, reasonable accuracy, good weight, decent power and reasonable capacity. I put on a 2 axis dro and a tailstock dro. $1800 for one in good shape is a good price.

For prototypes in steel and aluminum it works very well for me. Although the size of these lathes do not spin too fast, I have no problem running carbide, and actually prefer it. Lots of other people will tell you different. |(I am sure you know how it goes)
