    Installing KBMM-125 into a G0704

For the folks who already converted their G0704 to cnc and replaced the stock motor controller with a KBMM125.

Did you re-use the other stock electronics?

If so, do you have an existing thread of how you integrated the KBMM125 back into the stock electronics/housing?

I have the Kbmm-125 running on the bench with a Weiss 1.1kw motor.

The stock motor controller seems to have few less wires hooked up which is throwing me off as a simple swap out.

1st question. Can the factory switch that controls spindle direction Fwd/Rev/Neutral be re-used?

2nd question: Can the factory Pot be used instead of the external one that came with the KBMM-125 board?

I'm not advanced enough yet in my CNc conversion to control spindle via Mach3 and wanted to retain the switch until then.

I am not sure about the directional switch but the KB boards are pretty well built and accommodating to outside control. An external pot can be used.

Running it via Mach is usually intercepting the wire going to the pot with a 2 position switch manual/cnc. A spindle control board would take the place of the pot and its signal when in CNC mode. The KB can supply the 10v supply if needed too.

I always wondered about the need for reverse in a mill. Unless I was tapping I see no need. So far. Actually I rarely use reverse on my lathes come to think of it.

    Thank you Fastest1.

I will skip the reverse speed switch all together.

You can always hook it up later if needed. If it is an available feature.

To reverse these you need to reverse the DC motor leads, when doing so you should also use I1 & I2 to turn off and reset the drive, in order that you do not reverse the motor from one high rpm dir to the other, as suggested by KB.
It does have a DC tach option if you fit a DC motor with this option.

    Re: Installing KBMM-125 into a G0704

    Hey Folks!

So I have the KBMM125 hooked up to a C6 board from CNC4PC.com.

Using the manual pot that came with the KBMM125, I can get my max Spindle speed of 5500 rpm.

When I switch over to the C6 board, my max spindle speed is 4000k rpm.

I adjusted the pot that's on the C6 board to max and it did not increase my max spindle speed.

    Any ideas?

I thought I read a thread similar to this, but my search-foo is to working for me.

Been a while but iirc it's because the max the c6 outputs is 10v and the kbmm can go to 12v.
Think I mentioned that in one of my videos ages ago.
