How to slot a rectangular slot with convex bottom ?

Can anyone suggest a program that I can use to get a slot cut on my 3axis mill, using Mach3.

I need a rectangular slot into a half round metal sphere, where the bottom of the slot is as shown in the picture is the Z depth.

I have searched high and low but nothing seems to answer this question, so perhaps someone here can help out.

    Regards, Brian

Well, the cheap way would be to program the slot in xy moves, program the curve of the slot in xy moves, then change some letters around and you'll have the z code, with a g17(?) In front instead of a g2/g3. My control doesn't do those g codes, so no direct experience. Put the curve code in place of / addition to the slot code and you should be good. Or, get out the graph paper and do by hand.

Thank you very much for the reply. I will look into trying it that way.
Seems incredible that there is not a program available to do such a simple job.

Oh well that is the fun of hobby cnc.

    Thanks, Brian
