Question Looking for some advice on first CNC Wood Router

I am in the process of researching CNC Wood Routers and am having trouble figuring out which would be best.

I need a machine that I can you my Aspire software with and can handle pieces up to 48" in diameter. I don't really have space for anything much larger unless I want to remove a whole lot of other tools from my shop, which I don't.

The main thing I want to do with this is make signs and small wood projects like decorative boxes. The ability up add upgrades later, like a 4th axis or laser engraver attachment, would be great!

The most I want to spend is around $4,000.

    Thanks,

    David

The only thing that $4000 will buy you is a DIY machine or a kit from CNC Router Parts.

Sorry, I was still looking at smaller ones when I was thinking of the $4,000 price tag. Although I did find one.

I can probably get away with something smaller since I will be doing signs most of the time. What size would you recommend?

I wouldn't be surprised if you saw up to 1/8" of movement if you pushed on the side of that Zenbot gantry. That machine is mostly made of plastic, and is a very lightweight machine. Disregard all manufacturers claims of "professional" or "industrial" on any machine costing less than $7000 or so.

As for size, buy the biggest machine that you can afford and/or fit. almost everyone at some point wishes they had a larger machine.
