Estop wiring with relay to cut power. Please help

Here's what I plan to use,

    - Momentary green "ON" button
    - Estop button
    - General purpose DPDT 24DC coil voltage with 270VAC max switching voltage and 15 amps
-24VDC power supply to power relay
-72VDC Output 240VAC input power supply to power steppers

    What I want.

    1. I want to push the green button and energize the Relay coil, which should close the relay contact and "turn on" the power supply for the steppers. When I hit Estop I want the opposite to happen.

I don't understand how to wire up the relays and I'm terrible at interpreting wiring diagrams without seeing actual pictures of real wiring. Does anyone have any pics of a similar setup or anything that could help me. This seems so basic, but with electronics one cant just "try things out" and get a feel for something without serious risk.

The coil of the relay is energized by the momentary (normaly open) contact of the green start button, this contact is paralled with an unused contact of your relay.
its called a holding contact that keep your relay energized when you release the start button.
in serie with this wiring you can put as many estop (normally close) red button as you need.
the remaining contact of the relay energized the power supply .
this circuit is a basic motor start stop configuration and should be easy to find on google.
hope this help and good luck

    Hi,

I found a pretty simple diagram that I believe you could follow with ease. Forget about the 3phase motor and focus on the Switch connection, Attachment 320132
Basically you want to achieve this:

    Attachment 320136
    Hope this helps.

Extra: Also, I'd recommend the Stop switch to have two contacts, so you can use one for this circuit, and the other one, to have it wired to your breakout board so your software (Mach3?) knows about the E-Stop condition.

    Regards,
