I have a GS Electric B4PCM-072T 110V DC permanent magnet treadmill motor. 5100 RPM, claims to be 1.5 HP. Already have it mounted on a lathe.
What's available in PWM controllers today, at an affordable price? Close to $100 as I can get. Preferably with both a pot input for manual control, another input suitable for CNC control, and connections for a switch to change between them.
Even better would be to have it 'fail off' if no input controls or the input switch is connected.
Those cheap sub-$20 ones 'fail-ON' if there's nothing connected to the 3 pin header for control select, and the fuse turns into a flashbulb since the controller sends full power to the motor output. I tried one of those, got it all working, added a fuse holder by soldering wired to the ends of a blown fuse. Then when I closed up the box and turned on the power, popped the slow blow fuse. Opened it up, checked everything, continuity, connections all good. But all it'll do is act as though nothing is connected to the input select header. Probably popped some component on it.
