I think you're technically allowed to install it on 3 computers. Be sure to login to the portal and get the just released 8.5 version.



Version 8 and above can, but it can only load one .stl file per job.

So I got everything installed on my main computer and its really neat!!!

I went to register my software with vectric and see about the 8.5 release. I downloaded the 8.5 release and installed it now I have v-carve pro 8.0 and 8.5 on my system can i just uninstall the 8.0 version?

I did notice thaty when I installed a gadget it installed into 8.0 and didnt touch 8.5

got the jointer all set up today finally!! So Excited I can now make precise cuts for glue ups!!!!

This sucker makes some chips though thats for sure!!!

12/2 Romex is rated to only 20 A. That's kinda low for a workshop. Just a thought.

I have bigger wire going to my shed, but it all goes back to a 20a breaker in the house. I run router, air cleaner, dust system, lights, radio and other items, no problems ever.

1/2 of my new CNC Machine has shipped and will be here on the 9th!! and my shop is no where close to being finished so I have to get busy lol

when I was looking up the requirements for mach3 it says you have to have a video card with 512mb of ram or higher do you have any issues with large gcode files?

No matter how powerful your PC and video card is, you WILL have trouble with large files. Usually anything with more than a few hundred thousand lines of code.

For the same reasons computers have issues bogging down with any large bits of data. Sometimes it's just more than the processor can handle.

Just the way thatMach3 was written. The toolpath display is very inefficient.
Turning off the toolpath display should alleviate any large file issues.

The graphics card requirements are left overs from day's long ago, with much lesser capable machines.

I have run files with over 200k lines without issue.

Roger - Just to clear things up. We don't use 2-phase power in America. Most residential electrical connections are single phase with capability of 110v or 220v. It's rare but occasionally I'll come across a residence with 3-phase, but generally in my area (greater Philadelphia) you can't get a 3-phase residential hook up from the power company, which is why woodworkers that want to utilize 3-phase machines usually have to purchase a converter of some sort. Commercial and industrial building usually have 3-phase connections. Which brings me back to 2-phase - 2 phase was more common at one point but was mostly abandoned in America a century or so ago. There are some throw-backs - the Philadelphia Electric Company still provides 2-phase service to many commercial customers in center city, but of course won't install new connections. This is very rare occurrence however, and possibly the only city in the US.

Here in Oz we always have 3-phase 240 V running down the street - at least in suburbia. If you ask for it you get it, although the authorities might ask for a reason (mainly for the paperwork). I asked for and got 3-phase 60 A per phase. They DID ask why the current rating: I replied farm machinery. As I was paying for the lead-ins from street to house, they were not fussed.

Further out in the country - yeah, well, that depends. The run to a remote farm can be kinda long out here, so sometimes you can only get a single phase, or maybe 2 phases to distribute the load. But they are always referenced to the Neutral. If you really need 3-phase, they might want a contribution to the cost of running the extra wires.

Our grid is very uniform across the country, which is nice.

Is this thing the only problem mach3 has? No more problem, then we can avoid easily. Don't have too big file.
