    I found the mounting bolt from the feet matches the holes on the motor face... I'm guessing it's M6. I will see if I can reuse it. Removing the mounting feet didn't reduce the weight much, it's basically little pieces of aluminum that weights 200 grams at most.
    I have no idea if the aluminum case is inferior to cast iron since I have never owned a cast iron motor.

    I didn't think so either... it's lighter, it conducts heat better (means it will cool better). I think it's only if the motor is in extreme environment that cast iron is superior.
