I am in the middle of installing a Leeson 3 Phase motor on my G0704 along with a Benchtop Precision Belt drive.
This is a picture of the Belt Drive as I received it. Attachment 322742.

Is that motor mounting plate for the D80 (or what ever frame size yours is)? It looks just like the plate for the 1100 watt. They might be the same, I dont know.
A lazy man does it twice.
This plate is for the Metric motor not the 1100 watt motor. Larger center openind.

Is the bolt pattern the same?

Sorry, you have to ask BTP that one. I never saw the other motor.

I just got around to posting a video showing the benchtop precision belt drive conversion kit for three phase motor. It's not perfect (the kit) but it is well-made. Anyway I hope you enjoy the unboxing video.

I just want to clear the air and let everyone know that this kit was not originally designed for the D80C. The D80C motor plate is an adaptation due to repeat customer request. That is why we state on the motor plate order page that the fitment is tight and some modification might be necessary. The standard belt drive kit doesn't come with the D80C motor plate, that is by customer request.

I just posted a video about part of my build of the G0704.

I just ordered the D80C motor plate from Desktop Precision, a VFD, and the Leeson D80C 1.5KW motor... I only have access to 110v so I hope for the best but the stock motor is really on the fritz. The torque is so bad that I can literally grab the spindle and it would stall. No wonder it can't do any work!
I mean I had .75HP 3 phase motor on drill presses before and I couldn't stall them if I tried...
I think there may be some confusion over which Leeson motor I used. I used a D80C motor. It is 1 1/2HP, 3 phase. I got it from Zoro Tools. https://www.zoro.com/leeson-metric-m...2/?q=192067.30

That's what I ordered. I figure that it would still Hama with ok torque at lower speeds but I can go fast for smaller bits if necessary.
You are going to need to add 220 for this motor to work.

I found a vfd that does 110 that is up to 1.5kw. If not I'm going to have to find an extension cord or something..
I will be interested to see how that works out. It would make the upgrade even more attractive.

I got the Chinese Huamgyan one, it's cheap but they are reported to work well. I don't see why can't it work because it should work fine with a 20a circuit
By the way does anyone know what bolt do I use for the mounting holes in a D80C motor?
They were metric bolts but I don't remember the size. Take one of the bolts from the mounting feet and try that. Then go to the hardware store to match it.

I just got the motor... I am still waiting on the VFD and the motor plate from Benchtop Precision. Not sure what to do with the stock motor and the motor plate. I don't want to just throw it out but I don't need it either.
One question... is the aluminum motor frame inferior to say a cast iron motor frame? I can see an advantage aluminum frame has is that it conducts heat better, therefore it won't heat up as much.
I found the mounting bolt from the feet matches the holes on the motor face... I'm guessing it's M6. I will see if I can reuse it. Removing the mounting feet didn't reduce the weight much, it's basically little pieces of aluminum that weights 200 grams at most.
