How long do you sample voltage for auto volts setting.

I'm making my own torch height control and one of the things I'm adding in is auto setting of set volts. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's when the torch starts cutting at the correct height and the torch volts is sampled for a predefined time. The result is then used to give the SET VOLTS.

For those of you who have this feature AND actually use it, what is the longest time you would set your voltage sampling to.

    Cheers,

    Keith.

Its more important WHEN you sample than for how long. It of course HAS to be when you know for certain that you are at the correct cut height and the other cut conditions are correct or the rest of the cut can be in question. YOu also need a span range that will reject any readings over and under a defined center point for that type cut. It also helps to have real time positional sync between the toolpath and the mechanics.
