    help with nesting using alphacam

    Hello,

I am trying to nest 5 different size panels into a 4x8 sheet of 3/4 maple veneer. I use the nesting drop down, pick my parts and tool paths from screen, apply to panel-all is well. When I try to run, the program allows me to cut out the parts on the bottom (x Axis). When the router traverses to the parts above them (y axis) I get an error code n 70 pgp if circle programmed by its radius and end point. Any ideas? My parts are all rectangles, cutting with downshear .4145 diam solid carbide bit. Also, any thoughts on a good chart for rpm and speed for different tools and mtls?

    Thanks,
    Benaiah

    Hello,

it hard to analyze your problem without your parts and sheet. It can cause tool radius compensation in your machine (if your part are renctangle - which XY corners you have set? , which lead in/out you have set? Which tool compensation you have set?). Next problem can be caused by a uncorrect postprocessor.

Many variables can cause this problem.

    Thanks Maroslav4,

I was nesting some drawer sides- 5 different sizes. I am using 2001 Alphacam on an scm record 220. Our older software has been suitable thus far for our one off parts ( custom millshop applications). I was nesting into a 48x96 sheet of plywood. I used nest from screen (don't have irregular part option in drop down) The program optimized nicely and still had room to move parts around. I was using a resharpened .5" cutter and used actual diameter for gap. No lead in/out. I used on center tool comp. CCW outside tool path. The machine nested all and most had tool paths all around. It seemed to me that the problem was where two parts of different sizes met in the corners- it would not apply a tool path in that location. I was able to remedy by shoving those parts away on the sheet and manually entering tool paths. This worked in a pinch, but we are trying to add value by making parts for a local shop and need to streamline in order to be competitive. Any other thoughts?

    Thanks Benaiah

Are you using arc only lead in and out? Can you give us you post processor, nc output and .ard file please. It's hard to look at without them. There seems to be some compensation problem. As a work around try programming by tool centre.

    Hi,

it is dxf files. Much more better is ard file (alphacam router drawing) and also post which you use as write Headscraper.
