    Question More details

    Foodie,

Are you using Mach3 CNC machine control software or EMC or...??????

The information you posted is very vague, to say the least is a understatement!

    Welcome to the Zone,

    Foodie,

Now that we know what control software you're using, tell us how you are setting the feeds and speeds and "what" CAM program did you say you were using?

I JUST NOTICED THE TABLE SIZE IS SAYING 100 X 100 IM WONDERING IF THATS ALSO APROBLEM I JUST CHANGED IT TO 1000 X 1000 AS MY TABLE IS 1200 X 1200 THE SETTING ARE AS FOLOWED NEMA 23 MOTORSX3 THE SCREW BALL RODS ARE ALL 8T X 1200 /PITCH IS 2MM LEAD 4 THE MOTORS ARE STEP PER X=1270 Y=1270 Z=1100
    VEL PER MIN = X86.5 Y=86.5 Z =120
ACCEL= X=9.833026 Y= 9.833026 Z=4.00 THESE WERE THE STEPS AFTE GONING INTO CONFIG ALIGNMENT AT 1INC IT TRAVELLED 20 INCH THEN CALABRATED IT AND TEST IT AGIN THEN WENT 1 INCH AFTER RECALABRATION BUT AS FOR THE CUTTING I PUT A SAMPLE OF THE G CODE ROAD RUNNER NOT KNOWING HOW BIG ROAD RUNNER IS IT SEEMS TO WANT TO CUT IT ABOUT 1300 X 1200 IM SURE THATS NOT RIGHT CHEERS

ALSO SAY WANT TO CUT A OBJECT 650X650 HOW DO YOU DETERMINE WHAT SETTINGS TO USE IN THE MOTOR TUN UP ?
ALSO IF YOU CUT DIFFRENT OBJECTS DOES THAT MEAN YOU HAVE TO CHANGE MOTTOR SETTING FOR EA OBJECT CHEERS

    [QUOTE=jalessi;1934404]Foodie,

    this is what im using MACH3 / NEMA 23 MOTORS X3 /screw ball rod 8T 2mm pitch & lead is 4

Hi jeff this is what iv come up with so far after playing around for about 3 hrs

in steps by unit/axis calibration i selected x for 1 inch and it went 20 inch then it set the correct settings so i tested it again and it was ok i did that for all xyz so far so good
i set my table to X=1200 xY=1000 xZ= 200 as that is my size table.
After doing this i went and looked in motor tune up and these were the setting i found that loaded after calibration
    STEP PER X=1270 Y=1270 Z=1100
    ELEV PER MIN = X86.5 Y=86.5 Z =120
    VEL PER MIN = X86.5 Y=86.5 Z =120

When i loaded a g code eg roadrunner it wanted to cut the size bigger than my table and it was jerking around some what so i went into the motor tune up and moved steps per to diffrent settings and noticed the road runner was getting smaller when i ran a test cut, but i also noticed that z took about 1 min to line up for the cut so i played with the setting and worked out how it goes to neg quick but when it goes to get closer for the cut its sloer than a ant it creeps very slow.
then i tried to cut a 650 x 650 project but with no luck the same problem .i asumed that when you set the steps per unit it should automatacly put the right setting and speed
i guess i have alot to learn regards marc

    Re: cnc speed

    Marc,

From what you are describing it sounds as if you have Mach3 setup in MM "Metric" and are sending it Gcode in inches.

On a separate note, if the motor velocity is 120 mm per minute that is less than newborn turtle slow. It would take 10 minutes to travel once across your 1200 mm table or about 36 minutes to travel around the perimeter. A half dead ant moves faster.

    Marc,

Have you viewed the video in the link below?

I suggest watching the motor tuning portion several times.

sounds like its the feeds and speeds in the CAM program? if it manually moves normal in mach3 then you load a gcode its using the speeds from the cam
