    So tonight, I made my first steps on GBRLGRU..

    Re: GrblGru: Free CAM and 3D-Simulation for mills and lathes

    Good Evening.
    I Have 90% made the Robot Arm and now I am sorting out the software/control. A have some experience with GRBL but none with GrblGru.
    I have imported the Step parts into Machine Manager. and they look OK to me. I thing its something to do with the Machine manager configuration and ME.
    I have selected ROBOT_ARM_5AXIS for the Machine Type. But I think it might be in the Z. Mapping section at the very bottom

    I hope that is the correct method of posting a picture.
    Any advice would be nice.

    Thanks in advanced Antony.

    Hi.
    Another Question.. Can I use Fusion360 to make the Step parts ? .. Maybe this is my issue I am having.
    Thanks Again.

    Sorry, I haven't really understood the problem yet. You have created a new model for GrblGru and something is wrong.
    Can you please provide me with the STL files here and explain in detail what is not working ?

    Re: GrblGru: Free CAM and 3D-Simulation for mills and lathes

    Thank you for your reply.
    Sorry for not giving you a good clear of the issues I am facing.

    I have got the first 3 Axis moving, Which are C,D and E.. Noticed that adjusting one Zeros the other. in picture "Actual work Position".

    And I am unable to adjust the settings in Rotation Axis. Picture "Unable to adjust"

    And the one that's most confusing is the Z Mapping . Not sure what Translation Axis is for ? or how to set the Axis assignments.

    Zip fil enclosed with Stl parts in. Hope this is Ok.

    Regards Antony.

    Dear GrblGru!

    GrblGru Lathe / my machine

    How do I get the y axis to be the rotation axis Y=F on the cnc shield of the arduino uno v3 or arduino nano v4

    @AnyonyUK
    I have installed your model "aLFA" with minor changes in version V5.2.9.
    I recently changed the mapping again. The names in the simulation now always remain the same.
    Only everything that is sent to the controller via the interface is mapped.

    @kisjohnnie
    Sorry, I'm not a hardware / controller expert and I'm not familiar with the different shields.

    I was thinking of setting up something like this.

    https://docs.lightburnsoftware.com/Rotary-DSP.html

    Maybe add a straight cutter?

    Maybe there is an archive where older versions of GrblGru can be downloaded from?

    Re: GrblGru Troubleshooting

    Hi!

    I've recently built an MPCNC, installed Mega 5X on my board and GrblGru on my computer.
    I'm able to do the 2D simulations but not the 3D option. I load the STL, be it the ones that come with the program or one of my own design but once loaded it won't let me click on the object to locate or otherwise manage or modify it in any way shape or form.

    What should I do?

    Re: GrblGru lathe tool path ofset

    Dear all ,
    I would like to try grblgru, where can I find a wiring diagram for mega2560 ?....

    Re: GrblGru lathe tool path ofset

    I am getting ready to try Grblgru. I am still awaiting the board I ordered.

    Can you give me an example of the file format you get in Grblgru, when you save probe points (your .wc file?)

    Re: GRBLGRU...LO LONGER ABLE TO IMPORT 3D DXF. LATEST VERSION CONVERTS ALL TO 2D. WHY

    @kisjohnnie
    No sorry, I have only one old version V5.1.2 Please see my website

    @brunojbalestra
    Please refer to the help text on the main page, which you can display using the "?" button.
    See pic below

    @sargi
    Please google for "pinout mega2560"

    @Swirlygiver
    You can also start GrblGru without hardware and measure in simulation mode.
    You can then save the values and view them. Let me know if you need a special format for your application.

    Dear GrblGru!

    Here, how can I get the Y axis to continuously rotate the lathe chuck?

    Re: GrblGru: Free CAM and 3D-Simulation for mills and lathes

    I don't know exactly what you want to do.
    The program for controlling the lathe (GrblGruLathe) cannot rotate the chuck continuously.
    At the time of development, there was no GRBL version for controlling a rotary axis.
    Only linear axes could be controlled. The Y-axis was therefore used for a different purpose.

    There are now many controller systems that can also control rotary axes.
    In the future I plan to to provide a corresponding machine model in the milling program (GrblGru), which can then be used to turn threads, for example.

    Re: GrblGru: Free CAM and 3D-Simulation for mills and lathes

    This is what I want to achieve with the grblgru lathe, so that it calculates how far the y axis must turn from the movement of the z axis, similar to threading

    If you know a little bit about GCode you can do that possibly with the macros.
    Please take a look at this video:
    You can use it to control your specific process with just a few commands.

    Thanks! One more question, does the GrblGru_Lathe get FluidNC control type support?

    Re: GrblGru: Free CAM and 3D-Simulation for mills and lathes

    Yes, that should also work now. You can load FluidNC as a controller in the new version.
    But I don't have much experience yet because I only did it recently.
