Bridgeport Series ii Boss Possible new machine build.

So I'm looking at an old Bridgeport Series ii Boss5/6 (unsure which one) that was offered to me for about $1000, could probably talk them down lower.
For me a bed mill is much more desirable, but I do not have the space (head Room) or money for the machine I want. A VMC roughly the size of a Haas VF2/3.
I plan on retrofitting the machine with DC Servo's and a Centroid controller (actually have all the parts in my room right now). So the upfront cost of the retrofit has been paid, pretty much just labor involved.
That retrofit was from another machine that turned out to have WAY too many problems and not worth fixing.

Now the question, I can't find much info about the Series ii CNC Machines. Are these machines worth a darn?
If there anything mechanically wise, outside of normal wear and tear that needs to be addressed?
Mostly just interested in all the information I can get about these machines.

    Thank you,

We purchased this Series 2 new in 1997 and it has been a work horse.

I purchased a series 2 special edition last year and did a control retro. I love it!

Thanks for the replies guys, both are good looking machines. islaww, your retrofit looks very well done.
Sadly, those machines look nothing like the one I'm looking at. Even the table/saddle are completely different.

I actually found a picture of the model of machine i'm looking at.

This machine is a lot different from the regular series 2 machines.
