    HELP with cnc

    Dear All,

I have recently bought a CNC 1224 for woodwork from China. I am facing an issue with engraving and even my bits reaching the MDF. I have installed all the electric work and the machine starts fine, goes to REF point great. My machine starts engraving inches away from the material. Let me explain the steps and see if i am missing any.

    1. Turn on machine
2 go to REF point (homing)
    3. move machine to materials and press XY=0 and Shift + 0 to clear Z.
    4. when i press the play button the machine moves but the BIT DOES NOT reach the table or the material so it basically engraving on airl

    PLEASE HELP!

Do You hawe a tool change in Your program? (line with T address) If You have it remove it unless You use multiple tools, but anyway for start just try program without TC.
Chechk if Your Z0 remains on planed face after You run program.

Where is Z0 on your model? Did you move the tip of your cutter to where Z0 should be and zeroed the Z DRO? If Z0 is top of your stock, did you move the cutter so it just touched the top of the stock and zeroed the Z DRO?

Even if You don't have tool changer The NC system may use some tool data which can be defined somway and it may add some tool length while selecting one in program.
I assumed that Z coordinates are defined in correct direction.
To check if Z0 remains in the same point You can touch part at known height and check the Z coordinate or go to some height above known pozsition and measure it by some measuring plate (it doesn't have to be real gauge block,- any piece of material with known height will be sufficient)

Make a short program: Cuts a line at Z=0 from XY=0,0 to XY = 10,10. Post the program (.nc file ) here. Can't diagnose sickness without examing patient.
