Re: Guitar CAD Design in MasterCam
Freeform surfaces are fairly difficult to model in Mcam and have them appear 'correct'
Your model has the 'body' extending too far into the 'neck'.
I suggest breaking the surface into a few more pieces.
Using the red guitar as an example, make a curve that follows the sharp edge, then one for the existing neck edge, then add several arcs for the 'flair' area.
You should be able to make a lofted surface out of the arcs or a Coons patch surface out of the edges (rails) if you split the body and neck curves into the same number of pieces.
A Coons patch requires 4 'rails' to make a patch and should be fairly 'rectangular'.
You can find the Coons patch C-Hook under ALT-C
Also, rather than just sending the Mcam file, please add several other formats like STP, X_T, X_B or SAT in older versions so those with older software can read your model.
This would be really EASY to do in a REAL cad system like SolidWorks or ProE.
Pro Tip: Always do filleting from the larger radii to the smaller.
P.S. Mcam was NEVER designed to be a CAD system.
