Hi Everyone,
I'm in the middle of putting together a cnc router and it's come time for me to choose a spindle. Since it's not going to be a production machine but more of a hobby project I'm looking at the ubiquitous chinese spindles.
So my situation is as follows. I live in an apartment and only have 110V at my disposal, short of rewiring the stove (and making the girlfriend quite unhappy in the process). I mainly plan on doing foam, laser engraving (with a laser, not the spindle), wood and maybe some aluminum, so power is not too great a concern. Eventually I'd like to get into aluminum down the line but that will be when it's in a proper shop. One thing I'd actually like is an ER16 collet, which I can only find on >=1.5KW spindles. There are a few 1.5KW spindles which claim 110V 3ph, and some inverters that claim to take 110Vin and output 110V 3ph, but they don't seem to have ER16 collets, only ER11. There are other VFDs that take 110V 1ph and output 220V 3ph.
So:
1. Has anyone heard of 110V 3ph? Has anyone used any of these motors?
2. Has anyone used a 110Vac in to 220Vac out VFD (e.g. High-Torque Stepper Motor, Stepper Motor, Driver, Stepper Motor kit, DC Servo Motor, DC Servo Motor kit, Stepper Motor Power Supply, CNC Router, Spindle, and other Components. Stepper Motor | Stepper Motor Driver | CNC Router | Laser Machine | 3D Prin or http://www.aliexpress.com/item/NEW-110V-Input-220V-output-VFD-Inverter-2-2KW-spindle-driver-factory-direct-sales/32651676894.html)? That one claims to take 110V or 220Vac and output 220V 3ph @ 2.2KW. Let's set aside the fact it will take >20A @ 110V to get this power rating for a minute. Has anyone used this with 110V in to successfully drive a 220V spindle? Is it possible to limit the output current of the VFD to stay within the max input power available?
3. Could you get a brand name 110V to 220Vout VFD that's rated at 750W (maximum i've found) and limit the current on it to successfully drive a 1.5KW 220V spindle?
This is an example of the spindle I'm looking at: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/CNC-S...546780152.html
Alternatively there are the DC spindles that have an ER16 adapter attached to them, but I'm not super keen on the noise from DC spindles... and all the other issues that come along with them. (e.g. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/ER16-...03715579.html?)
Thanks!
Nick
